Beirut Explosions – Children urgently need help

By now, you've likely seen the videos that gave a devastating and heartbreaking look into one of the biggest industrial explosions in Lebanon’s history.

The explosions immediately wiped portion of the city's port district, shattering windows and buildings. The death toll could be as high as 100 with 4,000 wounded and over 300,000 people displaced. We are very concerned that children are among the casualties and that those who survived are under shock.

Right now UNICEF, is on the ground preparing to support children and their families but we can’t do this without you.

*Donations of RM50 and above are tax exempt under Section 44(6) of the Income Tax Act 1967.

UNICEF confirms its commitment towards the people of Lebanon, the authorities and all partners on the ground. We are on the ground and will do everything possible to provide much-needed assistance today and in the long run.

Did you know?

  • Amongst Lebanon’s most vulnerable children and families are 1.5 million Syrian and 200,000 Palestinian refugees.
  • Lebanon hosts the highest number of refugees per capita in the world, with over one fourth of the population a refugee
  • We are estimating that we will need RM34.63 million (USD $8.25 million) to provide both immediate assistance to the affected children, and to start the planning to support the government to deal with the 34 highly damaged schools and 12 health care centres that were destroyed.
